Fais Do-Do - By Tim Rompel

Tim Rompel was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in the suburb of St Charles, IL, and now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area town of Larkspur, Marin County, California. He has also lived in Maui, Hawaii; Pensacola, Florida; Houston, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; and the southern Louisiana town of Bayou Vista. While living in the gulf states, Tim worked as a commercial oil field diver and attended The American Academy of Art, Chicago, IL, in addition to the Academy of Art College, San Francisco, California. To feed the soul, Tim practices the art of Aikido and Vipassana Meditation. “Art helps us to discover why we’re unique. There’s the old precept that ten people can be looking at the same tree, and if you had them draw it, you have ten different trees. I want to realize and define what constitutes my own intuitive artistic sensibilities. “Using acrylic, enamel and oils, I create nonrepresentational abstractions. I paint in layers, creating a sense of depth and mystique. Because of this, I’ll work on a painting for many months, and it will change direction many times. Minimizing the use of formula or template, my paintings take on a life of their own. This is where conflict and compromise merge, and in the end a finish conformed by a subconscious satisfaction.” – Tim Rompel
